On September 8, the international semiconductor industry association SEMI released the latest global semiconductor equipment shipment report and pointed out that in the second quarter of this year, the global semiconductor equipment shipment value reached 26.43 billion US dollars, an increase of 6% year-on-year, and a record high.
From the perspective of various regions, due to TSMC's vigorous expansion of production, Taiwan's semiconductor equipment shipments reached US$6.68 billion, with a growth rate of more than 30%, making it the largest market; shipments in mainland China were US$6.56 billion, down 20% year-on-year. in second place.
In addition, the Korean market shipped US$5.78 billion, down 13% year-on-year. It is worth mentioning that although the European market performed the most, with a year-on-year growth of 162%, the overall scale is still small.
SEMI is optimistic about the annual semiconductor equipment market, which is expected to exceed the $100 billion mark. Cao Shilun, SEMI's global marketing chief and president of Taiwan, said that as the semiconductor industry continues to increase fab capacity, it is expected that equipment spending will continue to grow in 2022.
At the beginning of this year, SEMI forecast data that this year's semiconductor equipment shipments will increase by 10%, reaching 98 billion US dollars.
